This spyware arrives as an attachment to email messages spammed by other malware/grayware or malicious users. It arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

It executes the downloaded files. As a result, malicious routines of the downloaded files are exhibited on the affected system.

  • http://www.{BLOCKED}evini.com/css/el/rt4.exe - already inaccessible

It saves the files it downloads using the following names:

  • %Windows%\Installer\{random GUID}\syshost.exe -detected as BKRD_NECURS.BGSJ

(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, which is usually C:\Windows.)

It then executes the downloaded files. As a result, malicious routines of the downloaded files are exhibited on the affected system.

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Step 2

Remove malware/grayware files dropped/downloaded by TSPY_FAREIT.VAOV. (Note: Please skip this step if the threats listed below have already been removed.)
